Diversity and Inclusion has been a key focus area for NASSCOM over the last 5 years. Started as the NASSCOM Gender Inclusivity Initiative in 2006 and focused on bringing a clear awareness and understanding of the business case for gender inclusivity in the industry, The success of the NASSCOM Gender Inclusivity Initiative has prompted a broadening of vision and scope in four areas. The Diversity and Inclusivity initiative now focus on People with Disablities, cultural, generational and gender diversities in the workplace.
The Indian IT-BPO industry has set high standards in inclusivity and is among the first to recognize the business imperative for Diversity and Inclusion. Inclusivity actions have evolved from individual programs to culture-changing organizational efforts. Recognizing the global leverage of our “demographic dividend”, industry is gearing up to develop a diverse and inclusive workforce for the world.
We recognize that Diversity and inclusion leads to diversity of thought , increased innovation and increased productivity. We acknowledge that diversity is connected to overall employee satisfaction and engagement, has a positive impact on recruitment, retention, and an organization’s ability to get the best people. We know that Diversity and inclusion matters because your clients are demanding it, allows companies to fully represent their client base and connect better with different communities of people.
NASSCOM continues to address maximising people effectiveness in the workplace and increasing business efficiency. Differing backgrounds, values, aims, and perspectives make people view situations and respond differently according to their own particular needs, beliefs and interests. Understanding what your organisation needs and for what purpose is critical , else an entire Diversity and inclusion initiative could fail .
